The Centre for Skill Development Courses and Career Planning (CSDC&CP) at St. Michael’s College, Cherthala, has been established in accordance with the directive of the Higher Education Department, Government of Kerala. The Centre at St. Michael’s collaborates with this visionary initiative to implement skill development and career planning programmes within the institution, offering faculty and students a potential platform for growth. The project aspires to integrate credit-based soft and hard skill training, duly merged into the FYUG programme, with particular emphasis on enriching the teaching–learning process.
At St. Michael’s, the CSDC&CP was formally inaugurated on 18th June 2025 and have initiated steps to enhance the academic and career prospects of students while also supporting faculty development. Its envisioned ventures include faculty/student training programmes, industry visits, expert sessions, internships, and hackathons. The Centre has already taken initiatory steps by organising FYUGP-related Faculty Training Programme and a comprehensive 3-day Induction Programme for the new FYUG batch. Going forward, it aims to strengthen both student and faculty growth by fostering skills and preparing learners for higher studies, research, and diverse career opportunities.
