St. Michael’s College, Cherthala was established in 1967. The College envisions national development of the educational and socio-economic standards of the backward and side-lined sections of the society in the coastal area of Alappuzha district by imparting value-based education. The Physics department of the college was started in 1967 with two batches each for the Pre-degree first and second groups. It was up-graded in 1999 with the introduction of B.Sc. Physics (Main) course with Mathematics and Electronics as the subsidiary subjects. It is one among the four colleges in University of Kerala offering Electronics as the subsidiary subject for core Physics degree course. Physics department is also offering the complementary physics for B.Sc. Chemistry main students.
B.Sc Degree Programme in Physics is a three year course with single main in Physics and two subsidiaries viz. Mathematics and Electronics. The syllabi for the undergraduate course is as prescribed by the University of Kerala.
