IGNOU SC 14187

St. Michael’s College, Cherthala, is associating with the prestigious Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), as a Regular Study Centre- SC 14187 from November 2019 onwards, which is established by an Act of Parliament in 1985. The study centre has been upgraded as an Examination centre with regular study centre from December 2020 onwards for all the programs offered by IGNOU, worldwide. The establishment of IGNOU Study centre in the college campus is an outcome of the vision and policy of the college management to provide maximum access to higher education to all the segments of the society with existing facilities and resources of the college. SC 14187 is the ONLY approved Regular study centre in Alappuzha District, is offering various Diploma, PG Diploma and Post Graduate Courses, with many of the retired and senior professors from our college and the neighboring colleges serving as Academic Councilors. Sri: Hari.U, Assistant Professor in Commerce is appointed as the Coordinator of the IGNOU Regular Study Centre-SC 14187 from November 2019 onwards.

• Orientation Program for the newly empaneled academic councilors of Various Programs in association with IGNOU Regional Centre Cochin on 25th October 2019. Resource Persons are Dr. Jalaja Kumari, Assistant Regional Director, IGNOU Cochin and Dr. Praseetha Unnikrishnan, Assistant Director, IGNOU Cochin.
• Campaign against Plastic Waste “Coasts Sans Plastic Waste” as part of activities under Unnath Bharath Abhyan in association with IGNOU Regional Centre Cochin and St. Francis Assisi HSS, Arthunkal, Alappuzha on 11th October 2019.
• Official Inauguration of IGNOU Regular Study Centre of St. Michael’s College SC 14187 by Rt.Rev. Dr. James Anaparambil, Bishop, Diocese of Alleppey on 9th November 2019
• Career Counselling Session by Dr. Sindhu P Nair, Deputy Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Cochin for the newly admitted students the college of 2019 admissions in association with the Career Guidance and Placement Cell of St. Michael’s College, Cherthala
• Online Orientation Program for the newly enrolled Students of all the batches from January 2020 Admissions onwards.
• Online and Offline Counselling sessions for the various approved programs from November 2019 onwards.

Study Materials will be sent by post directly (if you have opted for hard copy of Study Material) from Material Production & Distribution Division (MPDD), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. Kindly make necessary arrangements to collect the Study Materials if delivered in your absence to prevent return of dak unserved. Assignment

Assignment Questions are available in the IGNOU website (www.ignou.ac.in) but have session specific validity. Kindly ensure that you use the right set of Assignment Questions. Assignment responses for the Assignment Questions are to be hand written only and that to only in your handwriting. You can submit hard copy of Assignment responses always at the Study Centres. Please track the status of your assignment award updating in grade card for your enrolment number/ programme through IGNOU website. It is mandatory to submit the assignments to become eligible for registering the examinations

Assignment Submission Process

All the learners are hereby directed to submit the hard copy of the assignments for in the study centre on or before the 15th March (for TEE June) and 15th September (for TEE December) in the following order.

• Front Page/Facing Sheet.
• Appendix 42 (2 Sheets)
• Question Paper
• Answers (Hand written)

All the assignments should be tagged and arranged according to course wise and submitted preferably in person in the Study centre

Schedule of Term End Examination (TEE)

The Term End Examination is held twice a year-in June and December. You will have to submit Term End Examination forms for Theory as well as Practical courses by submitting online Examination form through IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in with the requisite fee as indicated in the online Examination form. Submission of Term End Examination form is only by online for all courses and is a mandatory pre-examination activity to be done from your side to enable you to appear in the Term End Examination. It is mandatory to submit the assignments to become eligible for registering the examinations.
